National Gallery of Armenia
In 1921, the National Gallery of Armenia was founded. It is the main and largest gallery of the country, consisting of 56 exhibition halls. Here you can get acquainted with fine art and decorative-applied art, study the art samples of different countries and different times. The works of many Armenian and foreign artists are displayed in the museum, for example, the masterpieces of Minas Avetisyan, Martiros Saryan, Eduard Isabekyan, Hovhannes Ayvazovsky, Gustav Courben, Donatello, Marc Chagall and others.
The museum consists of several departments, one of which is the department of Armenian painting with more than 7000 exhibits. In addition to Armenian works of art, the museum has a department of aesthetics of foreign countries. Here you can see more than 1150 works of European, American, and Russian artists. With about 12,000 stock reserves, the department of graphics and engraving can be proud, where you can see unique drawings, which include chalk, watercolor, gouache, etc., as well as woodcut, lithography, linocut, etching samples.
The museum has a sculpture section with about 1200 specimens. Both Armenian and foreign sculptors are represented here.
Of great interest is the department of decorative and applied art. All kinds of exhibits are kept here, starting with the decorative and applied art works of Ancient Egypt and Ancient Greece and ending with the German, Dutch, French and other countries' porcelain samples of the 18th-19th centuries.
